The lock consists of a cylinder (2) which is turned by a key bit and central (15) and side (12) gears which operate bolts (18). The central gear is in the form of a crown wheel with external teeth, surrounding the cylinder and turning about an axis (0') which is offset relative to that of the bit turning the cylinder. It also has two inward-facing lugs (17) forming a recess for the key bit to engage with and cover a limited arc corresponding to the engagement and disengagement of the bolts. Each of the side gears controls one of the bolts using an eccentric pivot which engages with a slot (11) in the bolt extending perpendicular to its direction of travel. The distance between the pivot and the axis of the gear is equal to half the length of the bolt travel. |
