[Also in Division G3] A spool valve is actuated by an adjustable member (not shown) which contacts the end of a rod 49 connected to the valve spool through a pin-and-slot 52, 51 to provide lost-motion connection. The rod forms a chamber 53 with the spool which is connected to a fluid line through a throttle 54. Radial bores 59 lead from the chamber and these bores are closed by the rod 49 when the left-hand end of the slot 51 engages the pin 52. The spool is urged to the left by a spring (not shown) so that when the valve moves to the left, and the bores 59 are opened by a control edge 55, the spool moves to the left rapidly relative to the rod to take up the lost motion. |
