The control system is used for the torque transmission of an automatic clutch (3) in the drive line of a motor vehicle. The vehicle has an engine (2), a drive (4) with a gear changing element, and a sensor for detecting the gearbox ratio. An operating unit, e.g. an actuator controls the torque transmitted by the clutch and is controlled by a control unit. The control unit controls the torque transmittable by the clutch, depending on the available engine torque, so that the clutch torque is controlled within a specified tolerance band, about this available engine torque. The tolerance band is dependent on the gearbox gearing. The width of the tolerance band is dependent on the gear. The torque transmittable by the clutch, is proportional to the engine torque across a proportionality factor and/or a summation figure. The torque transmittable by the clutch, is larger about a specified amount of the available engine torque. |
