A unit equipped with drive mechanism and braking system pulls further units on rails which have an outer vertical portion against which vertical axis rollers run. The rail sections have horizontal portions on which the carriage main wheels run. The carriage has main wheels (29) on axles (31) the ends of which carry pairs of additional wheels (30) rotating on a vertical axis. These additional wheels run against vertical walls (19,20) of the L-shaped rails. The drive mechanism consists of one or more parallel electric motors which are powered by rechargeable batteries carried on the rail motor car.
