The invention relates to a radiation thermometer, especially an infrared thermometer for measuring temperature in the ear. The inventive radiation thermometer comprises a casing (10) with a measuring tip (20). A protective cap (40) can be placed on said measuring tip (20). The invention also relates to corresponding protective caps (40). The radiation thermometer has a hollow space in its casing (10) for accommodating at least one protective cap (40), and a holding device (30) which is able to hold several protective caps (40). Said protective caps (40) have fixing means with which they can be attached to said holding device (30).
