Accurate determination of solids content in scrubbing suspensions for flue gas desulphurisation

The process determines the solids content of scrubbing suspensions in a flue gas desulphurisation plant. A known method of suspension density determination, is corrected from measurement of salts content, derived from conductivity measurement. The exact solids content of the suspension, Ss, is determined from the expression: Ss = ( sigma s ( sigma d- sigma l))/( sigma d ( sigma s- sigma l)). In the expression: Ss = the true solids content of the suspension; sigma s = the density of solids contained; sigma d = the suspension density; and sigma l = the density of the fluid. This last value is determined from sigma l = f + cK + kK<2>, where f, c, and k are factors determined by regression and K is the electrical conductivity of the suspension.
