The invention concerns the use of a snake venom, in particular Crotalus viridis helleri venom, for determining the reactivity of activated protein C (APC), in particular for determining the functional activity of protein C and for determining the resistance (APC-R) to APC. The invention further concerns a method for determining the APC-R of a human plasma to be tested and the assay kit for implementing the method.
