Biologically active building material

A biologically active building material, especially for buildings in tropical regions, consists of a mixture of waste natural organic material with a magnesium oxide-containing inorganic binder (preferably in a ratio of greater than 8:1), the novelty being that the binder also contains magnesium sulphate. Also claimed is a biological building especially for tropical regions, in which the wall areas (11) formed by windows (7) and doors (8) are filled with the above biologically active building material. Further claimed is a method of erecting the walls of the above building on a gravel bed foundation by (a) driving spaced filter tubes (15) vertically into the gravel bed (2); (b) erecting shuttering (12) for the walls (4) by fastening to the wooden window and door frames (9, 10); (c) inserting vertical tubes (5) into the shuttering (12) and joining them to the filter tubes (15); (d) filling and setting the biologically active building material (13); and (e) removing the vertical tubes (5) from the shuttering and removing the shuttering (12) after hardening of the building material.
