<p>the cutter has a blade arrangement movable transversely w.r.t. the direction of motion of the material strip with a first blade unit (3) on one side of the material strip and a second unit (4) on the other side. The first blade unit has a drive with a positioning unit. A wireless signal transmission path (22) is formed between the first and second blade units. The second blade unit has a tracking arrangement (16). A magnetic field generating device (14,16) or electromagnet is arranged at one end of the signal transmission path. The tracking arrangement consists of the magnetic coupling between the blade units.</p>
