A process is for drying goods located in the inner drum (6)of a textile cleaning machine or a dryer with the help of drying air (2). The drying air (2) is accelerated strongly at the drum entry, led at a high speed in the axial direction into the inner drum (6), deflected in the inner drum space and led through the goods and outside through the drum perforations (7). A proportion of the drying air (2) re-routed in the inner drum space is sucked back through a vacuum area generated by the inflowing drying air (2), and led back into the inner drum (6).
