The night view spectacles includes a spectacles frame (4) with at least an electronic camera (5) and a display which can be viewed by the user. Picture evaluation electronics are provided which process the pictures recorded by the electronic camera and which provide an output signal for the level control of the display. Additionally, an infrared light source (7) is arranged at the spectacles frame which illuminates the visual field of the electronic camera. Preferably, the frame has a sensor (6), which detects the intensity of the light in the visual view of the camera. Control electronics (10) operate the infrared light source and include a threshold circuit (10a). The threshold circuit compares the signal generated by the sensor with at least a threshold and switches on the infrared light source when the signal falls below the threshold.
