<p>The invention provides low density seeded chondrocytes (LDSC's) and methods for producing cultures of LDSC's. LDSC cultures are characterized by increased rates and levels of cellular proliferation and differentiation as compared to control cultures. The invention also provides methods of cartilage repair which utilize LDSC's. It also provides LDSC implantation methods, which methods involve implantation of cells into a cartilage defect in vivo at densities similar to those employed to establish LDSC cultures in vitro.</p> |
