FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, production of steel in oxygen converters in particular. SUBSTANCE: method of heat cooling in converter includes addition of calcium- and carbon-carrying materials on to overheated metal with slag to cool it to specified temperature of heat tapping. Limestone is used as calcium-carrying material. Consumption of limestone and carbon-carrying material is kept within limits of (2.5-14.0 ):(1.0-3.0 ) kg/t of steel correspondingly. Content of carbon in carbon-carrying material amounts to 40-95%. Bottom agitation of metal with neutral gas is performed during cooling period. EFFECT: increased productivity, resistance of lining and output of good metal, decreased consumption of deoxidizing agents, alloying and loose materials. 1 cl, 1 tblu
