<p>A method of destroying cells selected for destruction within a host body with little to no collateral damage to healthy surrounding tissue utilizes ultrasonic energy to effect resonant destruction of intracellular components within the cells selected for destruction. After determining the various resonant frequencies of one or more intracellular component types found within selected cells, and determining which of those frequencies will cause no harm to healthy tissue, ultrasonic energy at a particular frequency which will cause an intracellular component to resonate to the point of destruction is focused at the selected cells to be destroyed for a duration and at an energy level sufficient to cause such resonant destruction, thereby killing the selected cells. Because no resonance is effected in healthy cells at the selected frequency, healthy cells remain unharmed.</p> |
