The method for controlling the braking system of a vehicle, which consists of at least two part vehicles, with which the brakes of at least one part vehicle are electrically controlled at least on the basis of the braking desire of the driver, and with the brake control this is taken into consideration, for the application and/or for the release. The control variable necessary for the application and/or for the release of the brakes of the two part vehicle during at least one braking operation, is determined on the basis of the retardation of the vehicle, and a variable representing the braking wish of the driver. The retardation and the driver braking wish are determined in at least one stationary phase during the braking operation, for determining the necessary control variables.
