The steel fibre is cut from a sheet metal material of even thickness (D). The cut longitudinal edges are congruent with each other and evenly spaced out over the axial length. The straight line centre area has a length of at least 50% of the axial fibre length (L). The two undulating partial areas each have an axial length of 7 - 17% of the fibre length and the two straight line end areas each have an axial length of 1 - 10% of the fibre length. The axial length of the undulating area and of the straight end area on each side of the fibre together make up 10 - 20% of the fibre length.
