<p>There is disclosed an electromagnetic flow meter having a measuring tube (2), a device for producing a magnetic field which is arranged perpendicular to the direction of flow through the measuring tube (2), and an electrode arrangement (4) which is arranged perpendicular to the magnetic field and to the direction of through-flow, the electrode arrangement (4) having at least one electrode that is coated with a protective layer (8). In such a flow meter it is desired to be able to keep the noise level low without it being necessary to accept a deterioration in the service life. For that purpose, the protection layer (8) is formed from a hard metal oxide which is bonded to the electrode (4) by gas phase deposition or by vacuum-evaporation or by flame-assisted, electrode-assisted or plasma-assisted powder spray methods, the layer (8) having a predetermined pattern of artificially produced openings (9).</p> |
