The container is particularly for car steering-wheels. It has a housing with bottom plate, end walls and a sidewall on which a top cover hinges. Grooved bars accommodate the upright items spaced apart and in rows. The items (8) are in two bottom (9,10) and two top (11,12) rows parallel to the bottom plate (2). One sidewall is on the top cover (6), while the other (7) is removable. For each row of items there are two bottom bars (14) spaced apart and one top bar (15). The latter is above the bottom bar which is rearmost when seen from the sidewall on the cover. The front bottom bar (17) for the front top row (11) is movable, when the latter is empty, into a rear position from its main position, the rear bottom bar (18) being movable then into a forward position, as is the top bar (21). The bottom front bar (19) of the rearmost top row (12) is movable rearwards.
