Continuous computer controlled production of black chromed die cast magnesium alloy components

The components to be galvanized are cleaned, degreased etc. before they are pickled in a bath containing substances producing a protective film containing magnesium fluoride. After rinsing they are given a preliminary zinc coating and rinsed. They are then coated with copper and rinsed. This is followed by sand blasting and subsequent activation in an alkaline cyanide based bath. The components are bronzed in a tin-bronze bath. After rinsing they are delivered into a black chrome bath on an acid basis to produce a black chrome coating. They are then rinsed and blow dried. The components thus treated are video optically checked for surface flaws. This is followed by impregnation of certain areas of the components by various substances. All the operations outlined above take place automatically under computer control.
