A rock anchoring system of the type including a rod having a threaded end portion engaged into a drilled hole includes settable resin sticks located around the threaded portion of the shaft at the closed end of the hole and is improved by the provision of a collar member which acts as a dam to prevent migration of the resin during the setting process. The collar member comprises a sleeve portion closely surrounding a smooth portion of the shaft and engaged thereon by a friction fit. A rib portion centrally of and surroundin g the sleeve portion has a diameter slightly greater than that of the hole so that it acts as a dam.
