Eupolyoxymethylenes are prepared by polymerization of oligomers of formaldehyde using a halogenated hydrocarbon as catalyst. Trioxane is the specified oligomer and carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, methylene chloride, bromoform, dichloroethylene, n-propyl chloride and aryl chloride. Amine or metal carbonyl catalysts known per se, may be used in admixture with the halogenated hydrocarbon. The polymerization temperature is preferably 50 DEG to 90 DEG C. |
