PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which comprises an outer container made of a metal to house a plurality of unit cells and terminal plates provided with output terminals and has a simple structure, insulating property between the output terminals and the outer container made of a metal, and improved reliability. SOLUTION: Six unit cells 1 connected in series compose a group of batteries and housed in an outer container 2 made of a metal. An insulating layer 17 with 10μm thickness is formed on the inner face of the outer container 2 made of a metal by coating the inner face with polyvinyl chloride resin. With such a structure, the even in the case that a thermally contractive tube made of the resin with which the unit cells are coated is torn by heat of such as welding dust generated at the time of electric spot welding, the positive electrode output terminals of the battery and the outer container made of a metal are reliably kept in mutually insulated state.
