PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for providing a color filter on the side of a large type counter substrate of one sheet constitution by composing an active matrix substrate of plural sheets of split substrates and also providing each split substrate with a color filter. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has such a configuration as an active matrix substrate 1 constituted into one sheet of substrate from two sheets of small substrates (split substrates) 1a, 1b with their side faces bonded to each other and a sheet of counter substrate 2 are bonded to each other via a sealing material 3, and a liquid crystal 4 is filled between the space. And, on picture element electrodes 9 on the small substrates 1a, 1b, a red filter 10R, a green filter 10G, and a blue filter 10B are arranged, which are color filters of about a same form as picture element electrodes 9. Further, on a scanning line, a signal line, and TFT 8 which are arranged in a matrix form, a matrix form of an insulating protection film 11 composed of SiN, acrylic resin, etc., is also formed so as to coat them. |
