PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively and easily align the optical axis of a prism for detecting a tape position with the optical axis of light for detecting a tape end. SOLUTION: In a tape cassette 1, first and second bosses 52 and 53 being formed on the internal surface of a cassette 2 are inserted into first and second boss insertion holes 49 and 50 being formed at a prism 41, the optical axis of the prism 41 is positioned while being aligned to the optical axis of detection light that is emitted from the light-emitting element of the tape position detection sensor of a driving device, and the prism 41 is mounted onto the internal surface of an upper half 2a of the cassette 2. With the optical axis of the prism 41 being aligned to the optical axis of the detection light, a play gapδ1 being generated between the first boss 52 and the first boss insertion hole 49 and a play gapδ2 being generated between the second boss 53 and the second boss insertion hole 50 are generated each other at the opposite side of first and second bosses 52 and 53 against the direction of the optical axis.
