PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform traveling carriage of a sheet-like base body having flexibility under the stable state without generating deformation due to wrinkles, etc. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a carrier roll 10 for supporting the sheet-like base body 2 at a prescribed winding angleαand performing its traveling carriage. The carrier roll 10 is formed with many stripes of spiral grooves 17a and 17b having gradually deeper depth toward both end parts 14a and 14b in right and left symmetry inclined at an angleθto the rotational direction in its outer circumferential part in two areas 16a and 16b in the widthwise direction from the center O. This carrier roll 10 has larger outside diameters of both end parts 14a and 14b than the middle part 15.
