Folding clothes drier, e.g. for window opening or balcony

The clothes drier, designed to fit in a window opening or on a balcony, consists of a rack (1) which is connected to a fixed support (2) by at least one pair of articulated arms (3, 4) which allow the rack to move between deployed and retracted positions while remaining horizontal. In the retracted position the rack is at a lower level and inside the room or balcony for convenient hanging of washing, while in the deployed position it is higher and on the outside of the building or balcony. The support and upper articulated rods can be made from flat metal strips to allow for closure of window shutters with a minimum of modification. The rack can also incorporate a cover to conceal the washing or improve its appearance. The drier can be made in a variety of different shapes, and can incorporate springs or power cylinders to assist its movement. Allows washing to be dried without reducing useful space of apartment or balcony.
