<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide coupler small in size by providing a specific number of optical input-output ports by branching main waveguide by optical filter. SOLUTION: A main waveguide 2 is formed on a waveguide substrate 1, and an optical input-output port 3 is provided at a left end and an optical input-output port 4 is provided at a right end. The main waveguide 2 is branched by an optical filter 5 and is made as a waveguide 7, and at its extending end on a left end of the waveguide substrate 1, an optical input-output port 8 is provided. Further, the main waveguide 2 is branched by an optical filter 5 into a waveguide 11, and at its extending end on the left end of the waveguide substrate 1, an optical input-output port 12 is provided. Optical filters 5, 9 are formed very thin and small by alternately laminating materials such as SiO2 , etc., on a very thin organic material. The filter 5 is designed so as to transmit, for example, 1.3μm wavelength but reflect 1.55μm wavelength. On the other hand, the optical filter 9 is designed so as to reflect, for example, 60% light quantity of 1.3μm wavelgngth, and transmit 40% light quantity thereof.</p> |
