PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device in which miniaturizing and reducing weight are easily performed, a visual field angle is wide, and display quality and reliability are high by providing a light control section controlling intensity of light from a light source section for each pixel and making it transmit as transmission light and a wavelength control section receiving this transmission light and emitting light of which intensity spectrum is different from transmission light. SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting element is properly arranged at a light source section 20, and emits light having the prescribed wavelength, light quantity, and luminous distribution to a light control section 30. The light control section 30 controls light quantity of light made incident from the light source section 20 for each pixel, and transmits it to a wavelength conversion section 40. The wavelength conversion section 40 converts properly a wavelength of light made incident through the light control section 30, and emits and outputs light of which intensity spectrum is different from a transmitted light. In this device, spatial intensity distribution of light outputted from the wavelength conversion 40 can be approximated as intensity distribution by assembly of point light sources being a light source of the wavelength conversion section 40. Therefore, it has wider visual field than a normal liquid crystal display device, and a picture can be clearly recognized even when a screen is watched in the oblique direction. |
