摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion detection and motion compensation prediction circuit whose circuit scale is reduced in comparison with a former circuit. SOLUTION: The circuit is provided with an integer picture element precision operation part 1 searching a part which most resembles the object of a present frame with integer picture element precision from a prescribed reference frame and a semi-picture element precision operation/motion compensation prediction part 2 (containing a buffer memory 3, a rearrangement means 4 rearranging picture data supplied through the buffer memory 3 in a picture element unit and an interpolation means 5 executing a linear interpolation operation on picture data rearranged by the rearrangement means). The buffer memory 3, the rearrangement means 4 and the interpolation means 5 of the semi-picture element precision operation/motion interpolation prediction part 2 are shared for a processing for detecting the motion vector of semi-picture element precision, based on the operated result of the integer picture element precision operation part and a processing for generating a predicted picture by using the motion vector.</p>
