ATM END DEVICE, ATM SWITCH, ATM SERVER AND ATM CLIENT-MULTIPLEX SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the down of communication owing to the fault of an ATM system and to improve reliability by multiplexing ATM clients with plural ATM end devices, detecting the fault of the ATM end device during an operation and executing switching to the other ATM end device by means of a procedure following standardization. SOLUTION: The ATM end devices 110 and 120 are the ATM clients of multiplex constitution, and the ATM switch 130 and an ATM server 140 set the addresses of respective self-devices in accordance with a specified address rule. The fault detection part 123 of the ATM end device 120 monitors the operation of the ATM end device 110 wile the ATM end device 110 normally operates and it communicates with the ATM end device 150 of the other ATM client. When the fault occurs in the ATM end device 110, the ATM end device 120 is switched to the device which is actually operated instead of the ATM end device 110. Thus, the down of communication between the ATM end devices owing to the fault and the like can be prevented.
