PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed video signal decoder which interfaces with a video device that externally has a synchronizing signal without using a frame synchronizer for a decoded video signal and a video signal decoding method. SOLUTION: A compressed video signal which is compressed is temporarily held in a 1st buffer memory area 31 of a storage block 3, the compressed video signal which is temporarily held in the area 31 is decoded by a decoding block 2, a video signal that is decoded from the compressed video signal is temporarily held in a 2nd buffer memory area 32 of the block 3, and a control part performs control that synchronizes the video signal in one frame unit from the area 32 as a display output in a prescribed order with an external synchronizing signal and outputs it. In this way, a display output that synchronizes with the external synchronizing signal is acquired. |
