PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the transferring efficiency of sugar chain by transferring sugar chain electrophoresing in an electrophoretic gel thermally to a membrane thereby transferring a large quantity of sugar chain thereto. SOLUTION: At first, sugar chain is labeled with a charged fluorescent labeling agent and the charged sugar chain is electrophoresed to obtain an electrophoretic distance inherent to sugar chain. A gel containing the electrophoresed and charged sugar chain is then brought into contact with a membrane to be transferred and heated thus transferring the electrophoretically separated and charged sugar chain to the membrane. The heating conditions are preferably set at 40-200 deg.C for 1-30 min. When the transferring sugar chain is irradiated with UV-rays, sugar chain bonded with aminonaphthalene sulfonic acid is visualized, for example. The quantity of sugar chain transferred onto the membrane can be determined by a fluorescence intensity detector equipped with a CCD camera. Since a large quantity of sugar chain is transferred, the invention provides means effective for structural analysis or functional study of transferred sugar chain. |
