PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illminator capable of brightening illumination light to a light valve by a usual light source as it is and a projecting device using it. SOLUTION: A partial reflection mirror member 5 constituted of partially a reflection mirror layer and a 1/4 wavelength plate layer on the reflection mirror layer is arranged in the vicinity of a second lens plate 3 of a fly eye integrator 4, and emission light from the second lens plate 3 transmits through the mirror layer unformed part of the partial reflection mirror member 5 to be emitted and to be made incident on polarizing beam splitters 12B,.... Second polarization emitted from the beam splitters 12B,... are reflected by reflection mirrors 16B,..., and the reflected light goes backward and advances at a prescribed angle with the relevant reflection mirror incident light, and is made incident on the reflection mirror layer to be reflected, and is converted to first polarization by the 1/4 wavelength layer, and the relevant reflection light illuminates the light valves 15B,... again through the polarizing beam splitters 12B,.... |
