PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the number of pictures in a GOP(group of pictures) from being different when an original image signal for a multi-angle is detected by 3:2 pull down to perform compression coding. SOLUTION: When a 3:2 pull down detection mode selection signal b1 shows truth, a 3:2 pull down detection circuit 12 detects 3:2 pull down to perform 3:2 pull down based on the detected result and perform field frame conversion, thereby generating an image signal c1, also generating 3:2 pull down information d1 and recording it into a recording means 15 at the time of pull down. Further, when the signal b1 shows false, the circuit 12 decides the phase of the 3:2 pull down by using the previously generated information d1 to the means 15, performs 3:2 pull down and perform field frame conversion, thereby generating the signal c1 and supplying it to a compression coding circuit 14. |
