PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fields having difference of time from being synchronized with each other and to display a smooth image without fadering on a display monitor of a computer. SOLUTION: A VGA controller 113 has a simple field composite mode and a complementary mode as modes for interlaced/non-interlaced conversion. The switching of these modes is dynamically controlled by the value of a progressive flag signal that is outputted from a DVD decoder 112. In such cases, in the case of a progressive flag = one, i.e., when frame data is decoded, the simple field composite mode is used, and in the case of the progressive flag = zero, i.e., when the decoding of field data is started, a conversion mode is switched to the complementary mode. In the complementary mode, between fields is not performed, and a frame for interlaced display is created by interpolating a short line. |
