Remote control for electric vehicles in parking and charging stations

The remote control unit uses infra-red links to communicate with a complementary receiver fitted to each vehicle. The control unit is in the shape of a pistol, and is strapped to the forearm of the attendant. A joystick (4) projects downward and is gripped in the operator's hand. The joystick provides forward and reverse control and steering control. The part of the control on the attendant's forearm carries a key pad (11-16) where the registration number of the vehicle to be moved is entered. To identify the attendant and to authorise access, the control unit requires insertion of a card (18) into a reader built into the unit.
