The procedure, for use with an automatic gearbox controlled by clutches, brakes and a series of sensors (51 - 54) for a rev counter, gearbox output shaft speed and throttle valve position, consists of delivering fluid under pressure to a clutch required for changing to a higher gear, reducing the pressure after a given period of time for changing to a lower gear. The fluid pressure is controlled by adaptative regulation, with the deviation in the initial fluid pressure from a correct value is calculated to obtain a value for the initial fluid pressure delivered to the clutch. After a set period of time, based on value for the modification of the engine shaft speed during a transfer phase, the initial fluid pressure is increased to a set level for changing up to the next higher gear. |
