The extruder for thermoplastics has a feed funnel and vertical stuffing screw, formed by a planet roller section. Preferably, only a small number of planet spindles is included (opening-up spaces between them). The particle size of the feed is preferably less than the fully-open width of two corresponding thread profiles of planet sections (for ready induction). The planet roller section preferably has an induction head. The central- or planet spindles preferably project up into the feed hopper (16).
