The piece of jewellery comprises two parts (3,5) connected by a two-part hinge. The first hinge part (9) has an aperture (13), and the second part (11) has a correspondingly shaped projection (19) engaging with it. The aperture acts as a joint socket and the projection acts as a joint strut. Both jewellery parts are tubular, and the two hinge parts are inserted into the open end of the parts. A holder element (27) on the first hinge part is peg-shaped. It passes through a bore (25) in the first hinge part, and projects into a slot (23) in the second hinge part, where it is locked by a hinge pin. The piece of jewellery is an ear ring or a bracelet.
