976,089. Making ornamental mouldings. R. SHERIDAN. April 5, 1962 [April 12, 1961], No. 13126/61. Heading B5A. Mouldings are prepared by covering a surface with an adhesive coating, applying in random orientation a layer of pellets which have asymmetrical stresses frozen in them (plastic memory) to the adhesive and heating the pellets so they expand and fuse together. The pellets are thermoplastic e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, polyhexamethylene adipamide, polyethylene tetraphthalate, butadiene-styrene or acrylonitrile, the adhesive may be fish glue or hot plastics material and the substrate may be aluminium. |
