<p>An apparatus for reproducing video data of a video compact disc player is disclosed. Optical pick-up section reads a radio frequency signal from an optical disc having caption data recorded in a PAL system. Radio frequency amplifying section amplifies the radio frequency signal provided from optical pick-up section. First digital signal processing section processes the radio frequency signal as a digital video signal. Clock generating generates a sub carrier signal corresponding to a record type of data of the optical disc. Second digital signal processing section generates a color synchronizing signal, a horizontal synchronizing signal, and an analog video signal in response to the radio frequency signal. Control section controls the clock generating section and generates a switching signal and a control signal. Analog video signal processing section executes a predetermined operation of an image signal and a caption signal scanned on a lower portion of a screen and outputs an analog video signal whose number of lines of the image signal and the caption signal scanned on the lower portion of the screen is reduced by half. Display section displays an image having the caption data in response to the analog video signal from the analog video signal processing section. Consequently, the video signal recorded in the PAL system is reproduced via display equipment of the NTSC system without a loss of caption data.</p> |
