A terminal 20a for an electrical component 12a in a hermetically sealed casing 18a comprises a flat-bottomed metal cup 22a having a cylindrical flange 28a to which is secured at a number of circumferentially spaced points, such as by welding, a flexible metal plate 30a which has a metal terminal wire 34a secured to the centre of its outer surface. The metal cup 22a is secured to the component 12a by an electrically conductive cement or solder 38a, and may have a central projection 36a which may be integral with or attached to the cup, which locates in a hole 16a in the centre of the component. Any expansion or contraction of the component is taken up by the flexing of the metal plate 30a. Holes 37, 31 may be provided in the cup and the plate respectively so that if it is required to evacuate the inside of the casing or to replace the air therein by an inert gas, no air will remain in the hole 16a. In another embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the flexible component is formed by four arms integral with and uniformly spaced round the periphery of a base plate secured to the component, the said arms being bent back over the base plate meeting at a common point over the centre of the base plate and a wire is secured to the arms at this common point. |
