This invention pertains to a bicycle saddle (10) and a method of manufacturing it. The method comprises the steps of providing a bicycle seat shell (96), cutting a fabric (12) to a suitable size and shape, forming pressure plate (26) having concavities (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38) on one side thereof, providing fluid communication between each concavity and a supply of fluid plastic material (56), disposing the cut fabric (12) on a bed (64), forcing the pressure plate (26) against the cut fabric (12) and bed (64) such that a seal is formed between the concavities (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38), then forcing fluid plastic material through the concavities (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38) and into the cut fabric (12), then causing the fluid plastic material to solidify and adhere to the cut fabric (12), whereby this solidified plastic material forms a friction surface on the fabric, and then stretching the cut fabric (12) a perimeter of the stretched fabric to the bicycle seat shell (96).
