Inflating granular material through thermal treatment

The method concerns inflation of a granular material through thermal treatment in a vermiculator (1). Such material moves through the vermiculator entirely by the effect of gravity. During its motion along a heated surface (4) it is subjected to shock heating as a consequence of simultaneous action of heat conduction, convection and radiation. The apparatus includes a delivery unit (2) and a distribution device (3). The surface (4) takes the form of an electrically heated chute system.
