This is a novel urethral catheter package (110). The surface-coated catheter (101) is held in a container permitting passage of a catheter sterilant. A further, outer container keeps moisture out. Also claimed is a method of making the package, substantially as described, with exposure to the sterilant. Preferably, the outer container (103) is a laminate including a metallic layer and/or a layer of silica. Its outer layer is a reinforcing plastic material. There may be several inner catheter packages (102) within one outer, which is repeatedly openable and closeable. A desiccant e.g. silica gel (112) and/or deodorant e.g. activated carbon (114) are disposed between inner and outer containers. |
