The present invention is directed toward face masks wich are comfortable to wear while still having enhanced bacterial filtration efficiency and desirable breathability as evidenced below differential pressure values. The mask comprises: a layer of electret treated crimped conjugate fibers; and a wettable innermost layer adapted to adsorb water.
