The use is claimed of an adhesive tape coated on one side with self-adhesive material with support film for protecting magnetic strips on magnetic strip cards, magnetic tapes or other data carriers and the corresponding reading devices. The adhesive tape is stuck on the magnetic strip of the card and/or the parts in the reading apparatus which come into contact with the magnetic strip, magnetic tapes or other data carriers.
