First puzzle pieces (11) have a first thickness. A number (N) of second, thinner pieces (12a,12b) are added to the sides of one of the first pieces. The number of second thinner pieces always has identical outer dimensions and can be piled up. The number and thickness of the second thinner puzzle pieces are such that the total height of the pile corresponds to the thickness of the first pieces so that the surface (15a) of the topmost second thinner pieces and the surface (14) of the first pieces are on the same plane. A frame (13) the same thickness as the first pieces encompasses the puzzle. The reverse sides of the second pieces have markings (16).
