Magnetoresistive gradiometer for measuring magnetic field gradients

The Wheatstone bridge is made up of individual resistances (1,1',2,2',3,3'4,4'). These consist of two groups of series circuits of equal numbers of parallel magnetoresistive foil strips. The two groups are separated by the base length of the gradiometer. The groups have a barber pole structure with opposing slopes. All the magnetoresistive foil strips may be located symmetrically in two zones of a foil carrier about a central axis with their centre lines distant from one another by the base length. All the foil strips, their connecting leads and their terminal pins may lie in one plane
