The invention relates to 1:2 chromium complex dyes of formula (I), in which R is C1-9 alkyl or a radical of formula (a) or (b), R1 is C1-4-alkyl, R2 is hydrogen or -SO3M, R3 is hydrogen, methyl or methoxy, R4 is hydrogen, methyl, methoxy or chlorine, n is 0-3, M is hydrogen or a non-chromophoric cation, and Kat+ is hydrogen or a non-chromophoric cation. Said dyes can be used for dying artificially produced oxyde films on aluminium or aluminium alloys, on which they yield highly light-fast colouring in yellow tones.
